So Sunday night I talked to the Junior High which was really fun. I answered their questions and then shared with them some thoughts from Isaiah 55. God says to Israel, "Come all who are thirsty." As I looked out over that room I saw a group of kids that are starting to get thirsty. My own kids were in that room and I found myself praying as the kids were singing, "Father, they're developing thirst, please help them come to the water you offer so that they can be satisfied." I'm 42 now and have been thirsty for a while. I've tried to quench that thirst a thousand ways and still do. In my moments of sanity, I run to the water that God offers, but much of the time its comfort, pleasure, reputation, control, etc. My hope is that God knows we're thirsty because he created that thirst within us as his image-bearers and he mercifully provides the water of his presence and his word to satisfy that thirst. May God help us to come to him for living water.
