So here are some things I shared from Isaiah 55 with our session at our recent retreat. First, we all thirst because God wired us to thirst when he made us. Second, we all spend and chase things that we think will satisfy that thirst but in truth don’t. Third, according to vs. 7 God is ready to pardon us for this which means He isn’t mad but a loving Father, ready to wipe the slate clean and keep going with us no matter how many times we chase after other things. Fourth, God is ready to admit us to his table, vs. 1 “come buy wine and milk without money or without price.” Next he’s ready to transform us as vv10, 13 say, “Instead of the thorn shall come up the Cypress; instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle.” Then he’s ready to restore us, v12, “You shall go out in joy and be lead forth in peace.” Even more, he’s ready to exalt us, v5, “For he has glorified you.” Then, he doesn’t force us, in v1 and 3 he invites us, “come.” Also, he’s ready to supply what we need, “buy without money” of v1 indicates whatever we need he will provide for us to have fellowship with him. He makes tremendous offers of his presence and his word and promises that these things will satisfy our souls. What a gracious loving Father we have. Thanks be to God!
