ABOUT ECPC

We are glad you are visiting our website. Whether you are a follower of Christ, one who is exploring Christianity, or a complete skeptic, you will find answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about our church. We want you to know why we do what we do and what vision we have for impacting the metro Atlanta area.

Our Motto:

Making Visible, the Invisible Kingdom

Our Vision:

To see the people of Atlanta captivated and compelled by Christ, thereby transforming the city through the gospel

We believe the gospel changes everything. In the gospel, the redemptive power of the sovereign creator God breaks into lives bringing new life and creating new possibilities. This power can transform and renew all the structure of a society including marriages and families, as well as the marketplace, the public square and the academy.

Our Mission:

To be a gospel community, planting dynamic, gospel-centered churches in the Atlanta/North Georgia region, and beyond

We are a community formed around Jesus Christ who lives and acts, in and among us. We are seeking to form disciples who know Jesus Christ and live a distinctive lifestyle of love that is visible to the world. We seek to replicate this kind of community and lifestyle through an intentional focus on planting new churches.

We are praying for God to bring about a movement that would bring the peoples of Atlanta into gospel freedom. We are aligning our purposes with God's purposes to make visible His invisible Kingdom through word and deed ministry that will spread throughout the city of Atlanta and the entire metro area.

CORE VALUES - What is most precious to us?

1.
We are committed to the inerrancy of Scripture.
2.
The Gospel is the foundation for all we do.
3.
We are seeking to make disciples.
4.
We desire intimacy with God.
5.
We are outwardly-focused.
6.
We are committed to each other in community.
7.
We are dependent on God through prayer.
8.
We are rooted in ancient Christianity.

While some churches are almost completely for those skeptical of historic Christianity, others for those who are seeking Christ or are new to the faith, and still others exclusively for longtime believers, we long to be a church for those all along the spectrum -- the skeptic, the seeker, the new convert, the growing or struggling Christian. And we point them all to Christ alone as their only hope.

At East Cobb, we are seeking to make committed disciples of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit-disciples who live such distinctive lifestyles that the entire city is impacted! The deep community we share causes us to love one another deeply and encourages us to look beyond ourselves to the needs of those around us. We're excited that God is allowing us to establish relationships with brothers and sisters in all areas of the city. We don't want to live in a bubble in the suburbs of Atlanta! In fact, we exist to bring the resources of the historic Christian faith to bear on Atlanta in the hope that visible changes will occur in the quality of its life - spiritually, socially and materially.

East Cobb began its life in the 1980's as a church plant of Perimeter Church. While we are a young church, we have not forgotten our connection to the historic Christian faith expressed in all the ecumenical creeds (e.g. the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed). We are a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a denomination that is national in scope. We subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith, and like all Bible-believing Presbyterians, we confess what is known as the Reformed faith. If you are unfamiliar with the Reformed faith, a brief statement can be found on our webpage, "Reformed Theology".

We are convinced that if you are open to us, you can experience the warm life of our shared community and sense for yourself the hope we have that arises out of the gospel. The gospel has bought us a new intimacy with God that you can taste in our worship. And it calls us to a life purpose that is beyond ourselves as we give ourselves away to further God's kingdom. We would very much like you to share our joy. If you are unfamiliar with the gospel, you will find a brief explanation on our "Good News" page. In addition, you are encouraged to deepen your understanding with a fresh appreciation for the beauty of the gospel.
