MINISTRIES
For the 2007-2008 ministry year, we have compiled some information which highlights the ministries of ECPC and those who serve in
them. We are grateful for all who serve in ways large
and small to build up this body of believers. Please feel free to download the Strengthening the Foundations document to learn more about the ministry that is taking place, or you may call the church office if you have questions.
We encourage you to discover more about the variety of opportunities at East Cobb Presbyterian and consider how you might like to connect with us.
Adult Education
The ministry of the Word is a high priority at ECPC. Gifted teachers conduct
adult Bible classes each Sunday morning at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m.
Boy Scout Troop 433
meets weekly on
Mondays at 7:30 p.m. at East Cobb Presbyterian Church.
Children's Ministry
We take seriously our commitment to covenant children. From the time children enter our nurseries as infants to the time they graduate from high school, our desire is to assist parents in their nurture and spiritual training. Loving volunteers who are trained by our nursery coordinator help staff our nurseries. We seek to provide quality care for little ones so that parents may worship without distraction. Additionally, Sunday school classes are offered for children of all ages using excellent curriculum by Great Commission Publications. "Children's Church" is offered for the last portion of the worship service for children 3, 4 and 5 years old.
Evangelism
We seek to train our members in relational evangelism--one that emphasizes sharing our faith to those with whom we have relationships--our friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. We have seen both adults and children come to faith in Christ and pray God will continue to use his people at ECPC to further his kingdom!
Home Fellowship Communities
These aare small groups of six to twenty people meeting in homes and apartments once a week throughout the city. These groups offer a context for people to find both the safety and the support of sharing in the lives of others. They are a place where individual members can minister to one another, use their spiritual gifts, and be discipled in the teachings of Christ.
Men's Ministry
The purpose of the men's ministry is to encourage and equip the men of ECPC to be Kingdom influencers in their family, church, workplace, and community.
Men are encouraged to meet together for prayer, fellowship and accountability on a regular basis. Special events and small groups during the year offer men opportunities to deepen their understanding of what God's word reveals regarding topics of significance for all men. Of particular interest is the annual men's retreat held in the fall. Find out more!
Mercy and Deed Ministry
Because we believe God Himself is full of mercy and shows each of us mercy in countless ways, we are moved to show mercy to those within and without our church. Our Mercy Ministry Team helps bring awareness about mercy opportunities, but much emphasis is placed on members actively participating in everyday, spontaneous acts of mercy and good deeds. Ministries in which we are involved in include those to the poor, homeless, under-resourced, elderly, orphaned or abused.
Missions
ECPC sent a mission team to Belize this summer. They helped with construction projects, vacation Bible school programs and ministered to the needs of the people in Belize. ECPC supports many missionaries throughout the world.
Prayer
ECPC is a praying congregation with prayer being the foundational activity for all ministries. We are dependent on God to accomplish our mission and to sustain our vision. We also pray fervently for the many prayer needs of our body. Many opportunities are available for corporate prayer and several prayer chains are used for urgent prayer needs.
School
East Cobb Christian School is a ministry of the church to children of Christian parents in the church and community. ECCS educates children in a Christ-centered and Christ-honoring environment. A book entitled
For the Children's Sake,
by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay, will give insight into the unique philosophy of education at ECCS.
Women's Ministry
The purpose of the Women in the Church (WIC) is that every woman know Christ personally and be committed to extending His Kingdom in her life, home, church, community and throughout the world. Every woman who attends East Cobb Presbyterian Church is a member of WIC.
We offer many opportunities to not only fellowship and have fun, but also to serve and use our gifts. We want every woman (from 9th grade to age 99!) to become involved at whatever level God calls her.
If you are looking for a place to "fit in", a place to learn more about Christ, a place to have fellowship with other women, here is your opportunity to find out more about what East Cobb Presbyterian has to offer women!
Worship and Music
We believe worship is a way of life and should be at the very heart of a church seeking to honor Christ. Thus, the Worship and Music Ministry team seeks to foster private worship as well as corporate worship that is dynamic, reformed, affective, historically rooted, culturally relevant, and doxologically evangelistic. The Sunday morning worship services blend traditional hyms with contemporary music.
Student Ministry
The student ministry at ECPC is led by our student ministry director but supported by the active participation of parents, who we believe have the primary responsibility of nurturing their children spiritually. Our desire is for each student to become a committed disciple of Christ and discover and use his or her gifts in the church. Activities are designed to help students grow spiritually, develop healthy relationships and reach out to others with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
