MERCY AND DEEDS
Why is Mercy Ministry important?
- Mercy is part of the nature of God
(Ps. 140:12; Hosea 6:6; Luke 6:36)
- Mercy was an important aspect of the earthly ministry of Christ
(Mt. 15:32; Mt 23:23)
- Mercy is a mark of the believer
(Micah 6:8; I John 3:16)
- Mercy is a calling of the church
(Ps. 82:3; Mt. 25:31-46; Gal. 6:1
East Cobb Presbyterian is committed to both Word and deed ministry. Because God Himself is full of mercy and shows each of us mercy in countless ways, we believe every Christian is called to show love and mercy to others. We also believe the most effective and biblical form of mercy ministry is spontaneous, everyday mercy shown by Jesus’ followers (Luke 10:25-37). The best forms of mercy ministry are those that “bubble up” as people respond to God’s call in their lives – not those that are organized from the leadership of the church. However, the church should evaluate needs in the congregation and community that are not being addressed and seek the Lord to determine if there is a way we should be involved.
ECPC Kingdom Builders is a service ministry of East Cobb Presbyterian Church. Our goals are to:
Care for ECPC members, especially those who are widows, single moms/women, the elderly, or dealing with illness
Support Christian ministries such as Cobb Street Ministries, Summerhill, MUST
Demonstrate the love of Christ in the community
We invite men and women of all skill levels to join us in this ministry.
If you would like to join the email group which is used to notify those who are interested in upcoming projects, please send a note to Builders@ecpca.org.

Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. Galatians 6:9-10
The following table highlights some of the ministries in which ECPC members participate. Please contact the church office at
admin@ecpca.org for more information about how to get involved in these mercy opportunities.

MUST Ministries
Elizabeth Inn Once a month, ECPC provides a meal to clients at the Elizabeth Inn, part of MUST Ministries. The clients are homeless, poor or financially struggling. The meal must be picked up from Folks Restaurant, taken to the Inn and served. Volunteers are needed to serve in the clothes closet and in many other capacities.
Summerhill
Many opportunities for inner-city service are available in the Summerhill Community, located near downtown and Turner Field. ECPC’s involvement each summer includes preparing and serving hot meals and assisting with arts and crafts, music and drama classes. The after-school program desperately needs volunteers to tutor young people.
Joy House
Joy House, a ministry in Cobb County primarily to abused women and children. Opportunities for service are countless, but include cleaning, gardening, tutoring, leading Bible studies, donating goods and services.
