Teaching

New GospelConnect  Classes

Beginning Sunday, November 13th, select from one of the following:

On the Shoulders of Giants - "I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." The church victorious - a promise from the very lips of Christ. In this class we will be looking at some of those whom the Lord has used down through the ages, to preserve and advance His Kingdom's reign on earth. Giants such as Augustine, Luther, Calvin, Edwards, Wycliffe, Spurgeon, and some who are less well-known. What motivated and challenged them? What can we learn from them that can be applied in our lives today?

Living the Gospel - What difference does the Gospel make in our daily lives? In our community? In our world? We will explore themes like Witness, Work, Justice, Idolatry, Conflict, Repentance and Forgiveness. Two top-notch video series (from Tim Keller and World Harvest) will be used to guide our teaching and discussion. Join us as we consider how the Gospel of Christ can transform us to be a light to our world.

Financial Freedom - Join the College & Career class, which is already studying Dave Ramsey's financial course. It is not too late to sit in the class and reap the benefits.

Further Reading About the Sabbath

Do you want more help with looking into the Bible's teaching on the Sabbath and help with practicing Sabbath? If so, please check out the following resources: The best book overall on this subject that Pastor Rick has read is by Lynne M Baab, Sabbath Keeping: Finding Freedom in the Rhythms of Rest, InterVaristy Press, 2006. Marva Dawn's book Keeping the Sabbath Wholly; Ceasing, Resting, Embracing, and Feasting, Eerdmans, 1989 is also helpful. There are other newer books which you can find at Amazon. My mentor Glenn Knetch first challenged me from the pulpit with a sermon series on Sabbath and the Lord's Day. His teaching on the subject is available in a book from Banner of Truth, The Day God Made. If you want to read about the various views of Sabbath and Lord's Day and how they may relate to each other - D.A. Carson's, From Sabbath to Lord's Day: A Biblical, Historical and Theological Investigation is a classic and thorough study of this matter. Perspectives on the Sabbath: Four Views by Christopher John Donato, Ed. B&H Academic is less expensive. You may also want to check out http://www.monergism.com/ and search for Sabbath.
