What would Jesus do?

What would Jesus do?

Have you ever heard the expression, "What would Jesus do?" Most of us have. Well based on yesterday's sermon, let's think about the answer. Jesus is the climactic revelation of God. God has spoken to us in Creation, Scripture, and in the person of Jesus, John 1:14. All three of these revelations agree. Creation speaks to us of God's invisible attributes: eternal power and divine nature (Romans 1:20). In Scripture God reveals his character and instruction (Psalm 19). When Jesus shows up, he is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). So Jesus always acts consistently with God's invisible attributes and his revealed character and will, which is what we see in the record of his life.

So if we're wondering what Jesus would do, he would always act consistently with God's character and will. Asking the question, "What would Jesus do?" is not a subjective thing nor is it something we can change to meet our standards or desires. Jesus would always act according to God's revelation. So if you want to know what Jesus would do, learn about God in his revelation.
