Our Neighborhood Book Club

met with author Maria Nicholas and discussed her book

Thousands of Tears.

Our Neighborhood Book Club

This is a book club for ladies (only) who enjoy reading or would like to be encouraged to read more. (There are no membership requirements or dues!) Our purpose is to follow Jesus Christ; to broaden our literary knowledge; and to strengthen our relationships with other women, both Christian and non-Christian.

Our goal is to have a book club that primarily focuses on reading good books, both Christian and non-Christian (or not specifically Christian), and in the process, opens up a line of discussion where:

  • we may hear new ideas that may be contrary to our own, and
  • both churched and non-churched participants can be challenged.

As an outreach, we seek to see Christian women interjecting viewpoints from a Christian perspective while listening to a different world view from a non-judgmental stance.

We plan to meet once a month, on Monday nights (dates fluctuate due to changing calendars!). You may call the church office for more information.

Ground Rules:

  1. If you don't finish the book, you are welcome to join the discussion anyway!
  2. A volunteer will be asked to provide the group with a brief biographical sketch of the author.
  3. We welcome book suggestions, but must refuse any books with excessive sexual content or other inappropriate content.
  4. The books offered will NOT always reflect a PCA view. Therefore, it is imperative that you do NOT trust that, because a book has been chosen to be read, it is also categorically endorsed by ECPC. (Attending the book discussion will allow you to see what views of the author are acceptable by Biblical standards.)
