WIC MINISTRY TEAM GOALS


GOAL I

Prayer

I (A).  Each WIC Ministry Team member will faithfully and regularly pray for the women –High school age and older – on her WIC Prayer List:

At the beginning of each ministry year and as the Ministry Team member sees need, she will let each woman know that she, as a Ministry Team member, is praying for her; and encourage those women on her list to let her know of matters needing prayer.

I(B).  WIC Ministry Team members commit to pray for each other and the women’s ministry at ECPC.

The Prayer Chairman may have suggestions of scriptures and other means to encourage Ministry Team members to pray on a regular basis. Ministry Team members are encouraged to seek her advice in their desire to be women of prayer.

I(C).  The WIC Ministry Team will continue to encourage ECPC women to be women of prayer.  Suggestions:

1.  WIC will support the efforts of the Prayer Chairman.

2.  Reflections may print articles addressing prayer, praying women, how to
pray, why pray, etc.

3.  WIC will provide devotionals on ECPC website.

GOAL II

Evangelism - Fellowship - Teaching - Encouragement

II. The WIC Ministry Team will enfold women High school age and up into WIC by providing opportunities for, and stimulating: 1) Spiritual growth, 2) Encouragement in their Christian walk, and 3) Fellowship with the women of East Cobb Presbyterian Church. These will be addressed by:

A. Having an evangelical current flow through each WIC activity.

1.   Speakers will be asked to consider the unchurched and unsaved women at events as they develop and deliver their messages;

2.   Each WIC Ministry Team member and any special speakers at events will be prepared to share Christ, and offer to the seeker the opportunity to have a relationship with the Lord.

B. Providing various settings where women’s faith in Christ, and her friendships with other Christian women can be developed, nurtured, and enriched – which might include:

1.  Bible Studies,
2.  Prayer Groups,
3.  Book Club,
4.  Project Night,
5.  Special Events and Women’s Annual Retreat,
6.  College Women’s Encouragement Projects.
7.  Other WIC or ECPC sponsored women’s gatherings.

GOAL III

Spiritual Gifts

III. The WIC Ministry Team will help ECPC women of all ages identify and develop their spiritual gifts, and encourage the purposeful and frequent use of their gifts for the benefit of the Body of Christ, and to His glory. Suggestions:

A.  Continuing education

1.  Periodic Reflections articles discussing the graciousness of God in giving us spiritual gifts, the benefits to the Body of Christ when one uses her gifts, and how to determine what one’s gifts are; and spotlighting examples seen in the church at ECPC of women using their gifts.

2.  Testimonies and stories at women’s events of how a woman’s gift was used to benefit the Body of Christ and glorify the Lord.

3.  A Bible study or speaker topic at a women’s event (e.g. Souper Supper, Women’s Retreat).

B.  Each WIC Ministry Team member will keep alert to the obvious or potential gifts she sees in other women at ECPC, and explore avenues to encourage development and use of women’s gifts by:

1.  Alerting various ministries of WIC and ECPC to a woman’s potential so leaders can invite her to participate in these ministries, and by,

2.  Encouraging leaders of WIC ministries to be willing to nurture the gifts women bring to ECPC and WIC through purposeful mentoring and/or spiritual mothering activities.

GOAL IV

Leadership Development

IV. The WIC Ministry Team will Identify, Develop, and Nurture leadership for Women’s Ministries.

A. WIC Ministry Team members will humbly and publicly demonstrate godly leadership of women’s ministries under the authority of the ECPC Session.

B. We will encourage WIC leaders to attend the annual Leadership Training
Workshop; and periodically provide team building and leadership development inservices and / or other opportunities for the WIC Ministry Team and (and potential leaders, if possible), as they are made available.

C. Use the annual WIC survey to identify potential leaders (e.g., those willing to manage or host WIC events, Bible studies, etc.);

D. WIC Ministry Team members will adopt a pro-active mentoring attitude toward potential leaders.

GOAL V

Spiritual Mothering of Women

V. The WIC Ministry Team will seek to incorporate women of HS age and up into WIC events/activities at a level of participation and responsibility commensurate with her spiritual gifts, abilities, availability, and desires;

A. The WIC Ministry Team will seek to support mentoring and spiritual mothering relationships between women of all ages;

B. Reflections may include (poignant) interviews with women partnered in a spiritual mothering relationship or in a woman/teen mentoring relationship.

GOAL VI

Supporting Mercy Ministry

VI. The WIC Ministry Team will support the ECPC Mercy Ministry by providing practical and spiritual assistance. WIC will encourage the women of ECPC to participate in ministering to those in need.

A. The WIC Ministry Team will appoint a woman as the WIC contact/liaison for mercy needs who will:

1. Communicate with the ECPC Mercy Ministry Team to offer WIC assistance,

2. Use the annual WIC survey to identify and make available women willing to address various needs (e.g. transportation, meals, visitation, etc.),

3. Coordinate efforts of WIC to help in times of need.

B. WIC will seek to minister to the recipients’ spiritual needs as well as physical/material needs.

C. Reflections articles may be used to teach about, report on, and promote the ECPC Mercy Ministry effort.

D. The WIC Ministry Team will support mercy opportunities throughout the year that would help bring the women together in service to others.

GOAL VII

Communication to ECPC Women

VII. The WIC Ministry Team will maintain and improve communication from the WIC ministry to the women of ECPC through:

A. Reflections, ECPC website, bulletin announcements and inserts, pulpit and Sunday school announcements, events’ sign up table and brochures.

B. Periodically hosting a WIC display board Sundays in the church foyer, concurrent to WIC sponspored events. A WIC hostess will be available to answer questions and hand out information to interested visitors and church members.

GOAL VIII

Importance of Goals - Communication of Goals

VIII. The WIC Ministry Team will continually improve upon, implement and communicate to the women of ECPC the WIC Goals.

A. The WIC Ministry Team – off-going and remaining – will review the goals annually, making and discussing suggestions for effectiveness, and improved practicality and implementation strategy. WIC’s goal will be to annually and at the Lord’s prompting expand the depth and breadth of its vision of women’s ministry and support of ECPC ministries.

B. The WIC Ministry Team will, by general consensus, approve and adopt the annual goals by June’s hand-off meeting.

C. The annual goals (abbreviated version) will appear in the fall edition of Reflections for the women of ECPC and/or on the website.
